MY FOCUS areas & First term RESULTS

resident flourishing

I believe residents deserve the opportunity to flourish, especially during times of inflation. Lower taxes can provide some relief, allowing families to retain more of their hard-earned income to cover essential expenses and invest in their futures.  I had the opportunity to support a FY2024 budget that required a city tax decrease to .4699 per $100 valuation from .4835 in the previous years.  Unfortunately, our FY2025 budget includes various rising costs with decreased sales revenues and has not provided sufficient funds necessary to provide market rate pay for our Police and Fire Departments.

During this November election, residents will have the opportunity to vote on a Tax Proposition, Public Safety Facility and Animal Safety Propositions that best aligns with their families' priorities.

Town Hall events will be held at City Hall on

Oct. 14, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. & Oct. 19, 2024 from 10 a.m.-noon.

Please consider attending.

quality of life & InfrastruCTURE

Working to enhance our neighborhood's safety and quality of life is important for our community. As an important focus area, I keep this in mind when traveling through our city and also truly appreciate hearing from residents about their ideas and suggestions for making our City better. These are some of the areas that I have been able to assist:

  • Roads Reconstruction and Mill and Overlays: Supported capital improvement projects focused on enhancing road quality as well as a Street Maintenance Program to ensure the longevity of these upgrades for our city.

  • New Sidewalk and Crosswalk Proposals: Advocated for needed sidewalks for connectivity and safety for children on school days, recreational walkers and pedestrians.

  • Speed Monitoring: Assisted residents with speeding concerns in our communities with the help of our police department's various measures. Ensured the repair of radar speed sign to help deter speeding.  Collaborated with city staff and successfully incorporated speed cushions as a new option in our Neighborhood Traffic Management Program.

  • Infrastructure Repairs: Oversaw repair completions of raised manholes, cracked sidewalks, and potholes to ensure safe passage for vehicles and pedestrians.   Our roads and sidewalks are vital to enhancing our quality of life.

  • Community Aesthetics: Helped residents with lighting repairs and addressing issues to maintain a pleasant community and park spaces.

Support Public Safety

Committed to public safety, I believe that a secure community is the foundation for growth and well-being.  As public safety recruitment has declined through out the US, I will advocate for support in resources for our police and fire departments, ensuring they have the tools necessary to effectively protect and serve our residents. Community engagement in safety education initiatives is important to foster strong partnerships between our public safety departments and citizens to build trust and collaboration.

Community support

  • Voted to secure grant funding from the Strategic Partnership Program, ensuring vital support for our Senior’s Meals on Wheels program.

  • Voted to secure grant funding for the Cibolo Citizen’s Police Academy, empowering resident support for the needs of our police department.

  • Visited with Seniors in our Senior Program to share City updates, hosted a bingo event, and coordinated a visit from the Buffalo Soldiers Association.

  •  Attended Town Hall meetings and City Events to foster community engagement.

  • Attended Ribbon Cutting celebrations of new Cibolo businesses to provide a warm welcome of appreciation for new services and jobs for our community.

  • Attended our Cibolo Fire, Police and Volunteer Banquets in support of all who serve our wonderful city.

  • Participated in the 2023-2024 SCUCISD Cohort Leadership program alongside other residents, gaining valuable insights into the school district’s operations and the programs available for our students and parents.

  • Dedicated 11 weeks to the Cibolo Citizens Police Academy with fellow residents, deepening  understanding of our Police Department's operations and challenges. This experience also provided valuable insights into the workings of other vital departments, including Fire, Dispatch, SWAT, Public Works, and Animal Shelter.

  • Participated in a 10-hour ride-along with the Cibolo Police Department to gain additional insight regarding the needs of our Patrol Force and the crime dynamics in our community.

Green spaces

Supporting green spaces in our city is so important for creating a healthier, more vibrant community. These areas offer opportunities for recreation, socializing and benefits for overall improved well-being. They also support local wildlife and help cool down our neighborhoods. By investing in parks and green spaces, we’re not just beautifying our city—we’re building a welcoming environment that brings people together and enhances our overall quality of life. Preserving our green spaces and acquiring new spaces will create a more recreational community where families can thrive.

I was proud to support the securing of land in Warbler Woods which will lay the groundwork for future green spaces that our community can enjoy.

FAITH + FAMILY + COMMUNITY

The pillars of faith, family, and community contribute to a vibrant and resilient city.

  • Faith: Our shared values of compassion and integrity unite us. When we come together in our places of worship and support one another, we strengthen the bonds that hold us together. This will inspire collective action for the greater good.

  • Family: Strong families are the heart of our community. They provide the stability and support necessary for our children to thrive and for everyone to feel a sense of belonging. By nurturing these relationships, we cultivate responsible citizens who are invested in the future of our city.

  • Community: Our active engagement with one another fosters connections and collaboration. Whether through neighborhood events, local organizations, or volunteer opportunities, we have countless chances to work together, share resources, and address the needs of our community.

Together, these pillars empower us to create bonds for a safer and engaged city. When we support each other, we build a strong foundation for growth and prosperity that benefits us all. Let’s continue to strengthen these pillars and work together toward a brighter future for our community!

It is with great anticipation I welcome the opportunity to again represent Cibolo residents for Place 5 at Large and to help ensure the bright future that lies ahead.
